Fitness bands

Is anyone here using a fitness band that works well with a treadmill desk? So far the only one I've seen that is advertised to work is the FitBit Flex. I was hoping for something a bit more feature rich (heart rate monitor, iphone notifications, etc) like the Microsoft Band but that particular one is dependent on the movement of your hips or arms, or vibrations from your footsteps to work. They aren't very good for situations where your hands are stationary, which is the case for most people…See More

"Well, I'm operational again.  The new Lifespan tread just arrived.  I'm typing this while walking at 2mph.  It looks like I'm a bit out of practice.  I can still type at this speed but not at my usual…"

Getting back into the game

I've finally decided to get back into the game.  Early last year my TreadDesk tread bit the dust.  It had served me well for three years even thought I bought it used off Craigslist from a fella that actually used it quite a bit.  I've spent most of 2014 sitting on my bum as a result of this but that will come to an end soon.  Today I ordered a Lifespan TR1200-DT3 from  No sales tax, free shipping, a free bottle of lube, and $50 off.  $949 out the door.  Previously I was…See More

Rick Boyett replied to Beth H.'s discussion Spec recommendations for used treadmill?
"The main problem with using a treadmill that is meant for running vs a walking tread is that the gearing is set differently.  A tread meant for running may actually burn up sooner if you just use it for walking.  IMO if you are only going…"

NYC tread desk users?

I live in NYC and would like to try out a treadmill desk. Snce there are no trial outlets in nyc, wondering if I there were any nyc  tread desk users i could pay to come over and try it.  don't want to make such an investment without ever having typed keys used a mouse while walking...  I am a middle aged artist and arts educator, and would happily provide any references.  Maggie

Five years with our Treadddesks.

I first read of the treadmill desk in 2008 and purchased one in 2009. At the time there were only 2 manufacturers - TreadDesk and the Walkstation by Steelcase. After a close comparison, I decided to go with the TreadDesk, mainly due to the price. We have since purchased 4 more for our offices and I then had to have one at my home as well. To say that they have improved the health of those that use them would be quite the understatement. Not only has everyone that uses them lost weight, they…

Office walker walking towards health

2 years now. 1,820 miles in my office. The tread is still good. I put a calendar reminder once per month to vacuum around and under the hood. I lubricate the tread belt from time to time.

My body weight has been very stable (some fluctuation). My vacation was spent hiking in England 60-70 miles…
