Does anyone have any information on which existing brands of commercial "cardio" treadmills are suitable for treadmill desk applications? I live in western Massachusetts, and there are literally dozens of used treadmills for sale on Craigslist, and I suppose the situation is similar elsewhere. It sounds like the qualities of even operation at low speed for extended periods, and quietmess are the most important considerations. Thanks.

David, I found out that I need to sell my treadmill because it won't fit into our new office space.  I am also in western MA and have a Fuel Fitness FT94 treadmill that I modified into a flat, arm-less treadmill so it could be used under my desk.  I adore it, especially the incline (found that a very low incline makes a nice change of pace and way to give your legs a rest) and am disappointed I need to give it up.  If you're interested, let me know and perhaps it could find a new home under your desk!

Thanks, Laura

Thanks for your reply, Laura. I am still mulling the options and trying to decide what to do. At first I got the sense that having an incline feature was of no use with a treadmill desk setup, but I have seen several users (e. g., Jon Drucker on this page) who use a modest incline most of the time, so now I am leaning in that direction. Can you tell me what you are asking for your treadmill? Thanks.

It all depends on how much you plan on using the treadmills. Commercial treadmills are made to be used 24/7 7 days a week and these companies have put a ton of research and development into perfecting their product. Meaning less injuries. Commercial treadmills are a bit pricers but they are built to last for years and buying them new they would cost you an arm and a leg. My suggestion would be to possibly look into buying a SERVICED Used Commercial Treadmill. This way you get the benefits of having a commercial product without breaking your budget. Just make sure its serviced (new belt, new bearings, etc). I have this one  used elliptical over 7 uears , and it still work well
