I'm on Day Three of walking and working. I'm doing about 3 hours / day. How long does it take to get up to walking for the majority of the day? Thanks for any advice or input.
My treadmill hasn't arrived yet, but I've been doing a standing desk for awhile. I've made the switch from sitting to standing and each time it took me about a week to adjust. I'll let you know when I get started walking. How fast are you walking and how long are you able to do it so far.

I'm only walking at 1 mph. Found that I couldn't type and talk easily at 1.4 (which was my original goal). I do think I'll get faster as I get more used to it - right now I'm on Day 3. I'm currently doing close to 3 hours / day - I have to pop off for meetings, etc. Importantly, I'm liking it very much.
I don't think I've yet done a full 8 hour day walking on the Treadmill. lately I've been putting in around average of 2 hours a day walking at different speeds. Really depends on your work schedule and how much time you can allocate to waking on the treadmill, but also since you are just starting out I would say to keep slowly adding more time to walking on the tread. If I was at the desk for a full 8 hours, I would probably walk for 1 hour, change to sitting on fit ball or standing for 1/2 an hour, then get back to walking etc. It can really wear you out by constant walking for long hours even at slow speeds.
It probably took me a week to get up to walking for the majority of the day. It is definitely a process, and not something that happens right away. I noticed, after several days, that I was more comfortable walking than sitting down. It was about at that point that I transitioned to more walking than sitting. Your body will set the pace for you!
