Working @ 100 Calories Per Hour
Hey all, I've been walking/working on my treadmill desk for over 2 weeks and I'm lovin' it. I'm so glad I took the plunge!
Here's my setup: I got an IKEA Fredrik desk off of Craigslist for free (lucky for me, it still looks brand new) and I configured it for standing height. Then, after standing for a week, I realized my feet actually feel BETTER moving and shifting weight, so a week later, I purchased a treadmill that I've had my eye on at Amazon for a while - the Confidence Power Plus Treadmill. I gravitated toward it because: A) It was a really inexpensive NEW electric treadmill ($239) and none of the Craigslist options looked appealing to me, B) The footprint of it is really small and would fit under my desk nicely, C) It was advertised as lightweight (I hate bulky equipment) and C) The handlebars APPEARED to be easy to disassemble completely. The only problem was, there wasn't that much information about it, especially for treadmill desk users. Luckily, I was confident in Amazon's return policy so I thought I'd be the guinea pig for the treadmill desk community. :)
Verdict: I couldn't be happier! The treadmill is super light yet sturdy, very quiet, and the console is small and was easy to disassemble from the handlebars. Check out my photo to see it - I believe it's comparable to the $820 Tread Desk treadmill, yet the speed goes as high as 10mph. The only downside is that it automatically stops after 30 minutes, but I don't mind this " feature" and I've grown to like it very much. It reminds me to take a little break, stretch, and tally up all of the 30 minute sessions I've done for the day. It goes as slow as 1mph, but I've gone as fast as 3.4mph when I'm doing less intensive tasks such as surfing the web or replying to casual emails. :)
Wow, that looks really great. Can you post the dimensions of the belt? What a deal and so light. I have a treadmill desk at home and want one for work as well. This might be perfect. How great that the console removes so easily. That it eights only 57 pounds is amazing! Your setup looks perfect.
On the Treadmill
Hey guys -
Rockvillage is indeed correct about the runway size. The entire unit is 20" (W) x 46" (L). That may sound too small for some, but I haven't had any trouble with my feet missing the tread or the length being too short for my stride. Perhaps a really tall person might though?
I can possibly record the noise level my treadmill if you'd like?
If you can do it, that would be great! Thanks.
Based on how much of my current treadmill I use, I'm sure I would fit on that. It is a bit shorter than the TreadDesk version.
New to this and just jumped in thanks to a (first in our company) office walker at work! AMY - thanks for this info! My peer @ work told me about your posting! I just ordered the same one that Amy bought - the Confidence Power Plus Treadmill! I can't wait to get going! I'm holding my breath on the WIDTH of the tread-surface but not that concerned, I'm sure I can acclimate to it. Just wanna get moving! I'll post my experience once I've gotten it up & going. Just had to share as I am so stoked to get this going. YAY!
Good luck in our venture. I've been at this about a month and really enjoying it. On the treadmill as we speak. I am interested in getting a second machine for another office so look forward to your review. All the best
Did your Confidence Treadmill arrive yet? Let me know if you want advice on how to disassemble the handlebars and console. Although I basically wrote the instructions on my Amazon review. Good luck!
Yes it did! I broke it out of the box yesterday & tonight I will try and dissassemble the arms etc. I'll go look @ your Amazon review or feel free to give my any pointers that might make it easiest for me. I had to bring tools to work today. Thank goodness the office cube next to me is empty for now! LOL! Let ya know shortly!
