Working @ 100 Calories Per Hour
Does anyone have any experience doing cad drafting work at a treadmill desk? Just wondering if the walking motion interferes with the precise mouse movements required. Thanks.
I know this thread is a few years old but I thought I'd give my 2 cents as I couldn't find much info when I was researching this question.
I do residential design and drafting using ArchiCAD on a laptop. For the past few years I've used a Logitech M570 trackball, but about a month ago I switched to a Contour Rollermouse Red Plus which I really like. It's as easy to use as the trackball, maybe even a bit easier, although it did take a few days to get used to it. I could not imagine using a mouse while walking and drafting - at least with the trackball it is stationary and only my thumb moved.
Anyway, I have been walking about 3 months now, averaging about 2.5 hours a day. I started at 1.0 mph and am now up to 1.7mph. My daily average is increasing and I hope to be at 4 hours soon. It took a good week to get used to drafting while walking and at least 3 weeks to get back up to speed.
I use a Lifespan TR1200-DT3 and modified a cheap IKEA table with some 3" ABS and some long bolts. My laptop sits backwards on a stand to give me a more comfortable angle. This pic is before the rollermouse - I built a larger laptop stand to accommodate it.
