Hey everyone,
Great to see more people doing this! My wife thought I was crazy when I mounted a monitor to the wall in front of my treadmill and built a keyboard tray on it, but I have walked 87 miles so far since starting a couple of weeks ago. My brother who also does this, and is a website building expert, made a cool website where we track our miles, and is adding cool features all the time. The next thing I think he is going to do is link to google earth, then you can pick some walk, like New York to LA, and everytime you enter your miles, it will show how far you have walked on the map, kind of a cool way to set goals, etc. It is a website just for fun, and anyone can sign up, its free of course. We now have a belt system, (like karate -black, red, green, etc) that you get based on miles you've walked, so a lot of fun. Anyway, good luck with your walking, maybe I will meet some of you on our website (it is just the 3 of us there now). It is http://officewalkers.com/
Hey there Dan,
Gr8 idea to integrate Google Earth to show progress etc, those are the little things that would encourage people all the more to put the miles in and see progress : )
Love ya work and hope to be on board soon
Hey Dan, I'd love to link to the "virtual" map for traveling. I saw something like that on one of the treaddesk blogs and the fellow walked across the US in a year or so.
And what is your criteria for the different belts? might as well standardize the system early on.
And when I emailed my ex-coworkers with my little video, they decided that this was a "ridiculus" idea, even for me (famous for silly ideas). We'll see who gets the last laugh...
