It took me a while to get it just the right way for me (ergonomics in particular) and now I am anxious about my impending move from my previous post in the Sports Studies department to my new job as the Director of Academic Resources. Hope it will not cause too much of a ruckus.

JLacy - I like your setup. I will send photos of my simple add-ons to my Proform. It is quite noisy but otherwise functions well within the concept. I feel much bette when I use the system rather than sitting for hours and log several miles per instance. I have tried to setup Dragon to remove the attachment to the keyboard but have not focussed on it enough.

Here's a better picture of my mini-stepper.

Fulltime Faculty for Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. TEach Economics, on ground and online. Lots of research and curriculum planning while walking! Treadmill desk is in my son's bedroom. By day, economist at large, by night, 8 year old's denizen.

I step very slowly, so it's isn't difficult at all. I'll post a better picture soon, but this stepper is smaller than a book box.

Isn't it hard to talk on the phone or type when you are on the stepper?

My office mate wants a stairstepper or treadmill, too!

Mary I am on sabbatical and discovered this in mid-September (you can check out my blog at projecttreadmilldesk.blogspot.com). I return in January and will take my new treadmill back to work with me. I will continue to share an office through the year, but then in August we move into our newly renovated building so I should be all set. My office mate is excited to use the desk when I am not at work.

Ahh... at home in academia! (smiles)
Okay, here are my demograpics...
I'm a Coordinator in the Office of Human Relations Programs at UM (College Park). We are the education, compliance and diversity training arm of the President's Office. We are a small unit, but have campus-wide responsibilty to provide services.

Bill - that naming rights issue sounds interesting.

JLacy - I can see how this (treadmilling while working) totally makes sense to you, given your background. Have you convinced anyone else to take it on?
