Comment by Deanna on April 28, 2012 at 7:31pm No, I put the wider desk surface at my comfortable arm height, then used the narrower surfaces for the printer and monitor - which is at eye height for me. I think the wider surface for the keyboard makes sense - for walking. There was nothing to stop me from putting the wider surface closer to the top though. There are bracket holes every 4 inches in the legs and they work for all the desk surfaces.
Comment by Anne Pratt on May 1, 2012 at 5:27am Hello, neighbor to you! What a beautiful arrangement. I can't wait to get one set up for myself. I've wanted a treadmill desk since I first read about the research 6 or 7 years ago!
Comment by ThomasC on May 1, 2012 at 9:30am Anne, it's the inactivity of sitting that is the killer not the lack of exercise. Don't wait for your treadmill sitting down. Go for a stand up now and get most of the benefits. Then when you get the treadmill, the walking is only icing on the cake. Good luck.
CONCLUSIONS: These data demonstrate a dose-response association between sitting time and mortality from all causes and CVD, independent of leisure time physical activity. In addition to the promotion of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity and a healthy weight, physicians should discourage sitting for extended periods.
