I'm using various shoes, from my comfy crocs fleece slippers when I get down here early in the AM, to my MBT walkers, too. I vary what I wear, depending on the number of hours I'm treading, too; long days I wear both my Brooks running-walking shoes…

Week 2: walked for about 20 hours this week, for 25 miles and wasn't nearly as sore as in week 1!

Uh-oh, I see no one has responded to this for a while! I personally lost 3 lbs the first week alone, and was able to do between 3-6 miles per day, depending on when I had out of office meetings, etc. And this week, my miles have increased as well as…

Cool, Christopher.. I'm using Weight Watchers, too, as is my spouse, so glad to see someone else here, too. Last week was my first week walk-working, and I was down 3 lbs., and that's partly the increased activity, I know, but I'm also drinking far…

5th day... up to about 4 miles today...

So, got my tread-desk gussied up, temporarily, of course, with duck tape (yes, Oregon ducks, so duck tape, not duct!) and its' working well. Thus far, my cat-who-must-sit-on-lap hasn't figured it out, though she was checking out the top of my computer today! (There is only 1" on the "top", being an iMac, not wide enough for her.)

Been adjusting shoes I wear, too, to save the knees, too. Thus far, the MBTS are pretty good for cushioning, since the treadmill isn't very soft at all. Thus far the m… Continue

Thank you, Barbara. Sounds like your midwife and mine are on the same page. It has been rough, but we are walking through the loss together, and also looking forward to next time with much hope and prayer.

Thanks for adding me :) From your status it sounds like you're getting used to this very quickly! Do you prefer walking to sitting down, yet? I was there my first time around (before I had to take a month off for staff-shuffling reasons), but I'm not quite back there yet.

Wow, I actually never came across the trikke in those big sizes... I've only seen them for kids. Now I have to try one!

Cool! Not really having any trouble or complaints so far... I'm a drummer into latin music so I actually am used to doing a few things at once with my legs and arms.

Thank you for your encouragement. I'm walking right now! The soreness was troubling at first, but then it miraculously went away last night and I feel great... friends are commenting on this (probably taking bets on when I'll give up), but I'm convinced this will last for the long haul because it is so easy.

I designed one from plexi that fits on the console of my treadmill. Which is a True 400. I'm thinking about starting a business doing this. I have a friend who was an industrial designer for Precor who might join me. What type of treadmill do you have?

Nordic Walking and a Trikke -a walking desk might feel like slowing down for you!

Welcome! Have you tried a standing desk yet? I think it helped me starting out. (At least it helped me appreciate that my feet hurt less walking.)
