Rock on! I did 20 miles total on my first 5 day week. By day 5 I was already losing the soreness. Mostly I dream of reflexology, but other than that. I'm lovin' it. It's quite addicting I tell ya.

After walking for a couple of hours I get a little disoriented when I stop and try to get off the treadmill, but it's only for a few seconds. Sounds like a good idea to give the eyes a rest every now and then though. Cheers

hey that's great you've been accepted with your treadmill desk. Geez your getting the miles up quickly, do you find you sometimes get a little dizzy from looking at the computer screen when walking (all the head movement etc) ??? I need a break I ...

It's not exactly what you were asking, but the tread I'm using came with a display panel on a cable you can mount anywhere and a low profile deck that goes under my desk. It's a TreadDesk.

I spent quite a bit of time away from my desk yesterday, but still made 6.32 miles at 1mph. Today was meeting day, so I'm only at 1.9 now and likely to make 4 or 5 miles by the end of day. It's getting more comfortable every day though. I'm glad ...

I just got the email from TreadDesk and my tread is due to arrive Friday. I'm really looking forward to trying it out. I've had about a dozen people stop by my workspace to check out my standing desk and some of them are considering a treadmill if...

Wow, from what I've read you're actually starting out at a pretty fast clip. I've heard 0.5 as a starting speed. I wonder where others have started? Can we do polls here? That would make a great one. Good luck and keep walking! Bill

Up to 1.5 mph and about 9-10 miles per day

I've been walking every work day except for a travel day and two days last week and it's part of my routine now. On the downtime last week, my manager asked me to check with my cubemates, so I sent out an email survey and had a surprisingly positive reaction from almost everyone. There was one person, however, who was having a hard time with the sound of the tread. Everyone was great about it and the person offered to move, but it seemed more appropriate for me to move to a more isolated cube in… Continue

Fourth Day 6.32 Miles

I spent quite a bit of time away from my desk yesterday, but still made 6.32 miles at 1mph.

Today was meeting day, so I'm only at 1.9 now and likely to make 4 or 5 miles by the end of day. It's getting more comfortable every day though. I'm glad I slowed down to enjoy it instead of pushing.

I'm not doing this entirely for weightloss, but it will be interesting to track along with the miles, so I'll weigh myself Saturday morning and see where I am.

Third Day, slowing down a bit.

I had an easy time walking yesterday, but recovery last night was a little rough. I felt great again this morning, but decided to back off to 1.0mph and a goal of 8 miles for the day. So far, that's going great with about 2.5 miles and 2.5 hours to go in my day.

Office Walking: Progress so far - Second Day

I made 4.66 miles Friday starting at .5 and working up to 1.0 mph. Started today at 1.0 and then 1.5 now at 2.0 and typing comfortably. 6.2 miles so far. I'm going to go for 2.0 mph for eight hours tomorrow. That's 16 miles and from what I read 2000 calories? That can't be right. This is way too easy to burn that many calories, but then I haven't done the 16 miles yet. I may not think it's so easy tomorrow.

Looks like I'll make eight miles in eight hours today (with the usual interruptions for… Continue

Ah! Yes, well, especially with the Trikke! Now, mind you, I'm not a 20 something keedo any more, but in spirit? Yup! But, the down side to the Trikke is that in winter in raining Oregon, with wet leaves on the ground etc., riding a Trikke is pretty dern dangerous! (And with my work, I need my hands and wrists in good shape!) Since the front wheel turns swiftly from left to right to move forward, slipping is very common on either wet pavement or wet leaves!

Hi Bill,
No, not yet, although, when I'm working on artwork, I often stand at my "gathering" table height art desk. I'm a long-time walker, though, teach Nordic Walking classes, but here in the Northwest, with the winter rains, it is hard to get out to walk every day! In good weather I do so, or ride my Trikke, but not in winter. I could do that, though, try standing all day, first... I suspect that movement is better than any of the static working situations. Old knee injuries and a PT suggestion to not sit still more than an hour are helping motivate me, though.
