All most of us here will have is bound to be anecdotal, if you want something research backed I would see what studies Dr. James Levine published, or some treadmill desk companies. Trekdesk doesn't cite any sources here, but this might prove helpfu…

9 miles today! Finding I tend to walk too much on the insides of my feet. Anyone know a good remedy for that?

I'm thinking I won't do less than 2.0 until at least Epiphany (Jan 6)...there is too much good food between now and then!

I'm using something my boss had constructed. Using a Gold's Gym brand treadmill from Wal*Mart and we drilled a board across the arms (you can see pictures on my page). Cost less than $400. Ideally, though, that is the lowest price you'll pay for som…

Post-Thanksgiving analysis - I had better stay at 2.0 mph, and I should never eat like that again!

Ok, so I think my legs were initially shocked and appalled at the new pace, but now they rather seem to enjoy it.

Took a leap up to 2.0 (short day today and I wanted to make the most of it). I'll post if that was a good idea later, haha...

The Lipid Lie

I made a switch recently for my husband's health and my own that shocks most people. I added more saturated fats to our diet.

The result, I will tell you before I get to the why of it, has been positive. My husband has shown gradual but consistent weight loss just since making this switch (with all the hormonal changes involved in being pregnant and now being no longer pregnant, mine has been more up and down of late, even with the walking; and I am told by other women who've had m/cs that this… Continue

Getting Ready For Thanksgiving

I have a short week at work this week (My normal half day on Wed, then Thurs and Fri off), and I find I am halfway disappointed about that. While I am excited for the time off, I am already thinking, "OK, so what can I be doing to keep walking while I'm not at work?" I am looking at squeezing some exercise time into our schedule already (and excited about actually wanting to make the effort).

So, the husband and I will have to plan some long long walks with our dog (who will be loving the extra… Continue

Sad News Regarding Our Pregnancy

My husband and I learned Friday that we had lost the baby we were so excited about bringing into the world. It has been a really trying weekend/week, but we can definitely feel the love, support, and prayers of our many friends and family members; and that has been a huge blessing in the midst of it. So, while taking time to grieve together and getting back into the swing of things at work after a few days away, my goals on the treadmill have been recalibrated and we are back at square one. Walk… Continue

News News News

At the very end of September, I had to temporarily give up my treadmill desk due to a staff change here in the office. I was needed at the front desk, and there was no room for a treadmill desk setup there! I was pretty bummed, I had just started seeing good weight loss results, and had been seeing positive changes in my focus and energy from the very beginning!

With an impending new hire, though, I am excited that after a week of training her, I'll be back at my old desk, walking away! However… Continue

Thanks, Melody - so far I really like this. The day is going by so quickly. Tomorrow I'll wear proper running shoes and bring a water bottle - I'm finding out that this is real exercise.

Hi Melody,

Yes, I did get into it pretty quickly, but I also am a Nordic Walker, too, so the walking isn't unfamiliar. However, my knees and feet are tired at the end of a 6 hour stint, I tell ya! So, I sit a bit later in the day, in the evenings often, for another couple of hours of work. I've got my own business as a designer-illustrator, so I do lots of standing, go to meetings, etc. so I'm not on the treadmill for more than 3 hours at a time, most days.

I wanted to also express my sympathies on the loss of your baby, too. That occurred to me before my wonderful daughter was born, and in many long talks with my midwife, she was very reassuring and left me much comforted. She said that there is a high incidence of spontaneous miscarriage for babies that wouldn't develop properly in utero, and many times we don't even know this has occurred.

I wish for a you a very healthy happy baby when the time is even more right for the child and you two!
