I started out at 1.7MPH. I think I could easily go to 2.0, but I think I might break a sweat at that speed after a while. I actually think faster speeds might be easier on the hips.

I seem to be getting more and more outer hip tightness/pains from the more stress that comes from walking on the treadmill...
This is an old discussion, but I'm a new user! I started slow, about 0.7 mph and it was too slow...once I got used to the motion I really needed to speed it up. I'm pretty comfy now at about 1.7 mph; I tried 2 mph but couldn't quite type.
And now...
Just got my treadmill up and going with the laptop, and am pleased to find that I can walk 2 miles per hour without hurting my accuracy or concentration. Maybe 1 mile per hour works well for some people, but it seemed way too slow to me.
