About Me:
I work from home and gained weight for the first time in my life, so I know sedentariness is the culprit. BUT I have to be at this computer for many hours a day, so a treadmill desk sounds like the way to go.

Making progress with the set-up

What is it with carpenters and other construction guys?? You give them a simple task like, "Cut down this tabletop", and they disappear for weeks.  Sigh.

Well, I have been making do with my shelf resting on the handrails. I've raised the level of the keyboard and mousing surface with books, and that is good for posture and shoulders. And just yesterday I affixed the large monitor to a swingarm (off of Amazon for $30 or so).

Safety note....

If you're walking on your treadmill minding your own business and suddenly the power goes out, you can almost get whiplash!  Yikes!

2 weeks and 2 pounds down

Last week I walked a total of about 32 miles in six days, so that is averaging more than 5mi a day. I have started increasing the incline a bit. Not so much that I notice it, but the calorie counter eats more calories that way. I have no idea if the calories counter is accurate, but it doesn't really matter, since I'm only really keeping an eye on mileage and that just for self-encouragement.

More first thoughts...

I've worked my first 6 days using the treadmill. An hour at a time, a few times a day, as I feel inclined. I'm not trying to walk virtually to anywhere, nor max out calories burned or rack up pulse rates. But it is gratifying to be able to say, "I walked 4 miles today".

Still haven't got the keyboard shelf on its own supports, but I'm making do with the slightly vibrating wire shelf. I do wish I were better at touch typing, but then, in my job, I also have to switch back and forth…
