Ola, I have to get on your case about not building a raised platform. While the book PDR may make the best monitor stand, there is no excuse not to build the platform for a handyman like you. lol. See my pic where you can use the 3 ft melamine board fro Lowe's. Cut the the 2x4 to length and glue on. Do not buy Elmer's wood glue. It's the worst glue in the world. Use Titebond wood glue. If 3 ft is too long for your desk, just have them cut the melamine to size. You don't need the sliding keyboard tray like mine, since you already have one. Show Janet how it's done, so she too can get off the books! lol

Love the tips here!

On the first day I used my LifeSpan Treadmill Desk, I knew I had made the right purchase for me.  I walked for 5 hours with a few breaks of course.  I have a closet full of athletic shoes and thought I'd be able to alternate my shoes with ease.  However, when I got off the treadmill that first day, I couldn't wait to get out of my shoes.  The next day I donned a pair of Crocs.  I've now purchased a fun, colorful wardrobe of Crocs!  They are perfectly light weight and they have wonderful air holes that keep my feet pleasantly cool!  Moreover, the traction they provide while walking is like a good tire on a Porsche!  I urge you try a pair of Crocs while walking and working, you just may become a convert!  Happy walking and working!

I love running and walking in VFF Vibram Five Fingers, but I don't think I can do that in my office. I use Merrel Encore They are very comfortable and I have worn out several pairs. Now I have almost worn out a pair that was bought in January 2012! that is too fast, so I will use some older running shoes to alternate with.

About loosening the hex screws. I have had no problems with the alignment of the belt. I have tried now twice to loosen them all the way and then tightening when lubrication was done. To align belt again I just let the belt go at 3 mph and adjust in small increments. 5 minutes or less.

New tips:

Change the mouse pointer speed to slower to avoid jerky movement when walking and working

Third time I loosen the bolts to slack the belt for lubrication and re-tightening them without problem. I re-align the belt in about 5 minutes
