Day 1: 1 hour @ 1.3 mph
After a few glitches getting my treadmill desk set up, I finally started walking at my treadmill desk today! I walked for an hour at 1.3-1.4 mph. I had no difficulty typing on my laptop because I rest the heel of my hand on the keyboard so my fingers are stable.
I was a bit worried about knee pain and lower back pain, which I suffer from, but they were fine until the last 5 minutes. That was my signal to stop. Prior to today, I have gotten essentially no exercise so I know I need to start this process slowly.
Many people at work are interested in what I'm doing and I have to say I don't really like all the attention. I'm the first person at my company to have a treadmill desk so I guess it's natural to be a curiosity. I'm sure it will fade soon.
I'm glad to be part of this group!

While I work at home, I told friends and family about my new desk even before I got it. This was strategy, when I'd rather sit or otherwise avoid the desk, that little voice in my head tells me to keep going because I don't want others thinking "well I didn't think he'd stick with it:. Pride can be a big motivator. I am keeping an Excel spreadsheet log and often mention my progress on emails to friends.
