As of yesterday I have lost 40 pounds (209 to 169). I can hardly believe it. From size 38 jeans to size 32. Blood pressure back to normal. From a BMI of 31 (obese) to 25. I have averaged 2.5 pounds per week loss since Mid September. I am 60. I'm not even sure how it all happened. Best I can figure is that I have a client to had lost 20 pounds using weight watchers and their IPhone app and my fatherinlaw was "encouraging me to get a treadmill. I knew that just using a treadmill would not work for me. I thought, maybe I can use my computer on the treadmill and googled it and found this and other sites. I thought I could just eat like I normally do but burn some extra calories. A good friend disabused me of the notion by telling me most studies show 70% of weight loss comes from caloric reduction. Bummer I thought. So I started the evolution of my computer desk (twin Ikea Jerker desks, pictures are posted here) and downloaded the free MyfitnessPal app for the iPhone. It allowed me to set a goal and recommended calories and exercise. It taught me what 1600 calories looked like and recorded how many I burned on the treadmill. I also started weighing daily, a mixed blessing but I have an amazing graph as a
I started mostly walking at 1 mph but now I prefer 1 hour blocks at 3.5 mph. I am amazed how much work I can get done at 3.5 MPH.
As I start 2012 I truly feel like I have a new life before me and the possibility of a much higher quality of life. Now I have to find a way to live at this level. That will be another story. I really appreciate those here who encouraged me and answered my fledgling questions. I am grateful to you all.
