Office Walkers

Working @ 100 Calories Per Hour

At the very end of September, I had to temporarily give up my treadmill desk due to a staff change here in the office. I was needed at the front desk, and there was no room for a treadmill desk setup there! I was pretty bummed, I had just started seeing good weight loss results, and had been seeing positive changes in my focus and energy from the very beginning!

With an impending new hire, though, I am excited that after a week of training her, I'll be back at my old desk, walking away! However....

I will definitely have to start out slower this time. My husband and I just found out 2 weeks ago that we're expecting our first child! I have been told your body has an "activity memory" of sorts that goes back about a year, and I can do any physical activity I have been accustomed to doing, as long as it does not require heavy lifting, or a high fall-risk.

So, there's a change in goals. While I'm no longer trying to lose weight with my treadmill desk, I will definitely be seeking only to manage my weight gain, and stay in good shape for the duration of my pregnancy. So, I think I'll be starting back out at the sloooooow 1 mile an hour (I had gotten nearly up to 2!) and not rush so much to climb the charts.

Thanks for the encouragement, Barbara. With the week of training the new gal over with, I am sooooo excited to get back to my desk in a couple days! Walking is such great stress relief for job-related stress factors, too, so I cannot even wait!

Cool, Melody... and yes, when I was a gym member some time go, one of the instructors continued teaching aerobics up to the morning OF her baby's birth! Not that her doctors had ever thought she would, nor did they recommend it, but she had been doing the teaching for so long that to give it up would have been a real negative. She taught the docs a few things about this subject!
